Matteo Lunelli among the winners of the Guido Carli Prize

On the 30th anniversary of the death of the statesman, on 5 May at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome a great event celebrated the fourteen award-winners of this edition

Matteo Lunelli is among the Italian personalities honoured by the Guido Carli Foundation for his constant commitment to promoting Italian excellence, both as President and CEO of Ferrari Trento and CEO of the Gruppo Lunelli, and as President of the Altagamma Foundation. Another important recognition in addition to that of ‘Entrepreneur of the Year 2022’ for EY and ‘Quality Leader’ for Forbes, in the Fashion&Lifestyle category, received just a few days ago.

A prestigious jury chaired by Romana Liuzzo, Guido Carli’s granddaughter and creator of the Award, and Gianni Letta, Honorary President of the Foundation, and completed by other significant names in Italian business and communication, selected a shortlist of fourteen talents including, in addition to Matteo Lunelli, Lamberto Giannini, Chief of Police, Francesca Bellettini, President and CEO of Yves Saint Laurent, Sofia Goggia, ski champion, and the famous actor Pierfrancesco Favino.

The figure of Guido Carli and the importance of his legacy have been recalled in recent days by both President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and Pope Francis, in a letter addressed to Romana Liuzzo.

Matteo Lunelli collected the award in the solemn setting of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome in the presence of leading representatives of institutions, top managers, entrepreneurs and former award-winners.

“The Guido Carli Award ceremony is a celebration of Italian excellence,” explained Romana Liuzzo, President of the Guido Carli Foundation, “and a hymn to merit, which Carli called for to be cultivated and liberated. Her testimony, her battle against the laces and ties that prevent young people from emerging, is still alive. We have chosen to celebrate her by bringing to the stage the women and men who, in every field, from economics to art, from cinema to sport and, for the first time, even music, make Italy great in the world, keeping their roots and commitment to our country solid. Through their achievements, we pay tribute to my grandfather’s moral and cultural legacy and to his hope for a future where development and solidarity, growth and attention to the least, go hand in hand’.

“I am honoured to receive the Guido Carli Prize, established by the Foundation of the same name that works for the enhancement of Italian excellence. As an entrepreneur of a group that wants to be an ambassador of the Italian lifestyle, as well as President of Fondazione Altagamma, I have the good fortune to promote the beautiful, good and well-made of our country and to grasp how much this is desired and appreciated all over the world. Following Guido Carli’s example, we have to make the new generations understand the incredible potential of Italy by giving them the opportunity and the desire to further contribute to its growth,” commented Matteo Lunelli.

The Prize was also awarded in 2011 to Gino Lunelli, Matteo’s uncle, who then held the same position at Ferrari Trento, as proof of the Lunelli family’s historic entrepreneurial commitment.
